It was my 60th birthday on May 2nd. I kinda put Greg on notice that I would like him to organise something, as usually it is me who organises not only his significant celebrations but mine also. I knew he had organised some travel plans but I did not know any details. Two weeks before my actual birthday we had a gathering at home where, as usual, I had organised the food and drinks etc. and he had done the inviting! It was a lovely night but there was still no mention of where we were going and nobody would even confirm that we were going any time soon.
The Monday after the party he told me we were off to New Zealand, but didn’t specify Wanaka, as we had been talking about going to Auckland. Anyway, I packed and we usually leave from Gold Coast airport so on the Friday we set off and he said let’s have lunch at Kirra Surf Club before checking in to Wyndham there for the night. We had just got our lunch when in walked three of our dearest friends, Stephen and Leslie-Anne and Kay, who we have known since our school days, shortly followed by my younger sister Mandy who lives at Airlie Beach. My other sister had been at the party at home but obviously Mandy had not. So the surprises kept on coming and I was told we were going to Wanaka, which is one of my favourite destinations.
We had an amazing time, it was a beautiful wedding at Wyndham Resort Denarau Island and we met some amazing people who celebrated our wedding with us. The resort staff were wonderful and provided us with as much support as possible. Continue reading →
Hard to believe it was exactly 13 years ago that we set foot on Fijian soil as brand new Wyndham Owners, staying at WorldMark Resort Denarau Island. We decided to elope and have our wedding ceremony on the beach, next to the pool at the resort – just Ray and I, oh and a fantastic English couple, Rob and Ann that we met at the bar earlier in the week. My son, Philip, & his fiancée, Rebecca, decided to have their wedding in Maleny, Queensland.
He invited his two aunties & their families from Melbourne.
As soon as they finalised the wedding date, I immediately booked a 3 bedroom apartment in Kirra, Queensland, which was available for 5 nights, to accommodate 8 people. We decided to stay in Kirra instead of staying overnight in Maleny, and we did not mind the 4 hour drive to Maleny and back to Kirra for the wedding. Continue reading →
Denarau Island, Fiji: The adventure starts with our elegant morning wedding and a relaxed champagne brunch reception. The heartfelt smiles of our guests are captured by our photographer. We float through the day and at dinner time we strike up conversation with people at another restaurant table. We start by asking about their day (secretly hoping they would ask about ours! Which they did…). Conversation and wine flows freely. Continue reading →
In 2003 my boyfriend and I visited Denarau Island in Fiji. We loved everything about it, the sun, the people, the restaurants, the activities, the atmosphere was truly sensational. One evening we went on an evening dinner cruise. On that cruise Mark proposed to me – it was so romantic, the sunset was absolutely beautiful.
We attended the seminar and didn’t hesitate to become an Owner. The next year on the same weekend we returned with 60 guests for our wedding. It was one of the best days of my life. All of our dearest friends and family came with us and our 4 beautiful daughters. Many of our friends became Owners on that holiday.
We had the time of our lives – the party seemed to go on forever. All of the guests stayed 1 week and then Mark and I had a week on our own. The following year we returned for our first wedding anniversary. Continue reading →
