USA: “Four fabulous weeks of travel across the USA”

Hi! Both my husband Michael and I have been members of WorldMark South Pacific Club for over 13 years, achieving Privileges Platinum level. Recently, we documented four fabulous weeks of travel across the USA followed by another week of cruising in the Caribbean.

The journey begins …

Los Angeles

The weather here was sunny and warm to hot. The highlights were Disneyland, Universal Studios and Hollywood, even though Hollywood wasn’t what I thought it would be … it turned out to be quite dirty and cramped with construction work in front of Mann’s Chinese Theatre and most of the surrounding streets.

Hollywood Walk of Fame

Where the stars are immortalised on Hollywood Boulevard! It has more than 2,500 stars spread over 18 blocks and over 10 million visitors a year. We could only do a few blocks due to time restrictions, but what a thrill to be here.

The Hollywood Sign was initially Hollywood Land sales. Originally made from timber, it was rebuilt in metal and is now an icon.

Rodeo Drive was very exciting. Beverly Wiltshire Hotel is where Pretty Woman was filmed. The street is lined with exclusive shops such as Louis Vuitton, Gucci, etc. so I could only window shop. There were lots of prestige cars such as Mercedes, Ferrari etc. to look at.

A Big Holiday in USA!

Union Square, San Francisco

Union Square, San Francisco

Patty and I had the honour of being invited to a wedding in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA in September 2012.  It seemed a shame to only go for the wedding.  So, using our Wyndham Credits to assist, we made a big holiday of our visit to the USA.  Continue reading

Hiking down into Bryce Canyon, Utah

Hiking down into Bryce Canyon, Utah

Over our ten years as WorldMark South Pacific Club members, we have stayed at many of the resorts within Australia, but this year we used our membership to take a fantastic overseas trip arranged for us by the friendly consultants at the Travel Club.

A Members’ evening in 2011 reminded us that the Travel Club was our ‘one stop shop’ for all travel arrangements, so using our Vacation Credits as payment, planning began in earnest (Editor’s note: Visit Owner Education for more information about these Ownership support evenings).

The USA was our choice, and we soon settled on a Cosmos ‘Trans-American Adventure’ Tour, which certainly lived up to its name, taking 23 days to cross the United States by coach from New York to Los Angeles. The tour, additional hotel accommodation in New York, transfers and airfares were all organised for us by the Travel Club. Continue reading

Just pop in those dates!

Holidaying with Wyndham is easy and adventurous……..go on put your dates in and see where you end up….we did.

We only have one rule when holidaying………always go to at least one place we have never been. Last year was Daytona Beach and this year we found the West Coast treasure……San Diego. With all but the last 3 nights of our USA holiday booked, I simply entered these dates we had free on the RCI website and up popped accommodation in San Diego. A place we had never thought of visiting, but so glad we did. Continue reading

American Honeymoon

My husband and I, after getting married in January, took our honeymoon to the United States over three weeks in February.  Both my husband and I are WorldMark members separately (from before we met), and so had enough Credits to book a significant portion of our holiday over there.  Our itinerary included New York, New Orleans, San Francisco, Pismo Beach, Los Angelas, Las Vegas, and Flagstaff.
