Life is Full of Surprises at Wyndham, Surfers Paradise

Sometimes you just need to get away from the stress and business of life and enjoy some down time.  Being owners since 2001 we have been able to do just that on many occasions. My husband and I headed for Surfers Paradise earlier this year for the weekend. Arriving we were surprised how close Wyndham was to the beach, just a stone throw; we were not surprised though by the friendly welcome by the staff. Having booked our room that overlooked the ocean, it was a quick unpack and down to the Friday Night Markets situated on the beach front. Even the husband enjoyed meandering through the stalls.

What surprised both of us was that the weekend coincided with the National Sand Sculpture Championships. This was a three day event which gave us much entertainment as we followed the artists’ progress as they made these extraordinary 3D works. They had started at 2pm that afternoon and already the sculptures were impressive.

The next day we begun to appreciate the central location of Wyndham, the tram stop right out the front, we didn’t have to use our car at all during the weekend; a convenience store and BWS across the road, a terrific pizza shop, and Cavill Ave within easy walking distance.  The weather was magnificent over the weekend, so it was no surprise that we enjoyed the sun, surf and sand of Surfers. In the afternoon we enjoyed happy hour at Wyndham’s bar area, a cocktail for me, a beer for hubby, it was a nice surprise to the end of the day. The Walrus Social Club was a short stroll down the street and provided the evening meal and entertainment in a relaxed environment.

On Sunday it was a return to the beach for a swim and to cast a vote in the People’s Choice for the Sand Sculpture Championships. Talking with the artists was an engaging and informative surprise! Relaxed and reinvigorated we said goodbye to Wyndham Surfers and headed home. We shall be back.

Surprise Surprise at Kirra Beach!

How could you possibly have a special family holiday with all seven of your grand kids, celebrate the Melbourne Cup, attend opening night of Chicago at the Bangalow Theatre and have your three children throw a surprise 50th wedding anniversary party? All in a week! Yes, Wyndham Kirra Beach is the ideal venue.

It started with the concept of having a week on the Gold Coast with our children, who live in Sydney, Newcastle and Brisbane. They have seven children between them – our seven grandkids. We live in Sussex Inlet, three hours south of Sydney.

We booked three units at the lovely Wyndham Kirra Beach where the friendly Wyndham staff helped make our time super enjoyable. The seven small children, aged between three and eleven just love the resort pool.

Then to add cream to the cake, throw in theme parks, our own Melbourne Cup party and the chance to attend the opening night of Chicago where our singing and dancing daughter-in-law was starring.

Unbeknown to us our children had put out an invite (to anyone) via Facebook to attend a surprise 50th wedding anniversary! The date they selected was about two months ahead of the actual special anniversary, hence we didn’t have any idea of the party. People came from Sydney, Berry, Batemans Bay, Gold Coast and also included Fay’s sister from Cairns and my brother from Canada that we simply thought wanted to just join the family gang on a holiday. On our way between Sydney and the Gold Coast some of our family were able to stay at Coffs Harbour and Port Macquarie Wyndham resorts.

We’d stayed at all of those resorts, and guess what? We’ll return to them all too! Thanks family and thanks to WorldMark South Pacific Club by Wyndham.

Kirra Beach: “We arrived all excited at the prospect of spending a week together”

Our family is growing fast so it is becoming difficult for us to all get together, especially since one of our sons and his family live interstate. For this reason, we planned a family holiday at Wyndham Kirra Beach well in advance. Early in 2015 we booked 4 units to accommodate my husband and myself along with our four children and their families. In April this year we arrived all excited at the prospect of spending a week together.

“We loved the whole concept of Couran Cove!”

Ramada Couran Cove

Lionel sitting on balcony on a still morning

My husband and I went to stay at the new Associate Resort, Ramada Couran Cove in November.

We were absolutely delighted with our unit, which was right over the water so we could look down at the fish and large crabs just below our balcony. We loved the whole concept of the Resort, with its sandy beaches right inside the circle of units and the wild life e.g. the wallabies which came down to the water’s edge. We loved the location of the WorldMark unit which was so close to the reception, the restaurants and the beautiful swimming pools. Continue reading

A Wedding Stopover at Kirra!

WorldMark Owner weddingMy son, Philip, & his fiancée, Rebecca, decided to have their wedding in Maleny, Queensland.

He invited his two aunties & their families from Melbourne.

As soon as they finalised the wedding date, I immediately booked a 3 bedroom apartment in Kirra, Queensland, which was available for 5 nights, to accommodate 8 people.  We decided to stay in Kirra instead of staying overnight in Maleny, and we did not mind the 4 hour drive to Maleny and back to Kirra for the wedding. Kirra Beach – What to do first?!

Children at Wyndham Vacation Resorts Kirra BeachAfter our long drive from home, we made it to Wyndham Kirra Beach resort. We checked in and went up to our room. The kids were so excited but there was no time to rest, we had to go and explore.

The boys were so excited seeing the little park, mini golf and the pool; it was all so fantastic to them. What to do first?  We managed all three before we had dinner and bed. All four children talked all night about the resort before drifting off to sleep. Continue reading

A mammoth task

How do you go about booking a holiday when your son, daughter-in-law & 2 grandchildren are going to arrive in our beautiful country all the way from Holland? Not just a normal visit, they want to visit Cairns, the Gold Coast and Port Macquarie before arriving at our house.

I set about the logistics of this mammoth task with both Wyndham’s and RCI’s support. Luckily, Wyndham had informed me that my points were expiring, but that if I transferred them to RCI they would give me an additional 2 years. Continue reading
