Sometimes you just need to get away from the stress and business of life and enjoy some down time. Being owners since 2001 we have been able to do just that on many occasions. My husband and I headed for Surfers Paradise earlier this year for the weekend. Arriving we were surprised how close Wyndham was to the beach, just a stone throw; we were not surprised though by the friendly welcome by the staff. Having booked our room that overlooked the ocean, it was a quick unpack and down to the Friday Night Markets situated on the beach front. Even the husband enjoyed meandering through the stalls.
What surprised both of us was that the weekend coincided with the National Sand Sculpture Championships. This was a three day event which gave us much entertainment as we followed the artists’ progress as they made these extraordinary 3D works. They had started at 2pm that afternoon and already the sculptures were impressive.
The next day we begun to appreciate the central location of Wyndham, the tram stop right out the front, we didn’t have to use our car at all during the weekend; a convenience store and BWS across the road, a terrific pizza shop, and Cavill Ave within easy walking distance. The weather was magnificent over the weekend, so it was no surprise that we enjoyed the sun, surf and sand of Surfers. In the afternoon we enjoyed happy hour at Wyndham’s bar area, a cocktail for me, a beer for hubby, it was a nice surprise to the end of the day. The Walrus Social Club was a short stroll down the street and provided the evening meal and entertainment in a relaxed environment.
On Sunday it was a return to the beach for a swim and to cast a vote in the People’s Choice for the Sand Sculpture Championships. Talking with the artists was an engaging and informative surprise! Relaxed and reinvigorated we said goodbye to Wyndham Surfers and headed home. We shall be back.
Our family is growing fast so it is becoming difficult for us to all get together, especially since one of our sons and his family live interstate. For this reason, we planned a family holiday at Wyndham Kirra Beach well in advance. Early in 2015 we booked 4 units to accommodate my husband and myself along with our four children and their families. In April this year we arrived all excited at the prospect of spending a week together.
My husband and I went to stay at the new Associate Resort, Ramada Couran Cove in November.
We were absolutely delighted with our unit, which was right over the water so we could look down at the fish and large crabs just below our balcony. We loved the whole concept of the Resort, with its sandy beaches right inside the circle of units and the wild life e.g. the wallabies which came down to the water’s edge. We loved the location of the WorldMark unit which was so close to the reception, the restaurants and the beautiful swimming pools. Continue reading →
My son, Philip, & his fiancée, Rebecca, decided to have their wedding in Maleny, Queensland.
He invited his two aunties & their families from Melbourne.
As soon as they finalised the wedding date, I immediately booked a 3 bedroom apartment in Kirra, Queensland, which was available for 5 nights, to accommodate 8 people. We decided to stay in Kirra instead of staying overnight in Maleny, and we did not mind the 4 hour drive to Maleny and back to Kirra for the wedding. Continue reading →
After our long drive from home, we made it to Wyndham Kirra Beach resort. We checked in and went up to our room. The kids were so excited but there was no time to rest, we had to go and explore.
The boys were so excited seeing the little park, mini golf and the pool; it was all so fantastic to them. What to do first? We managed all three before we had dinner and bed. All four children talked all night about the resort before drifting off to sleep. Continue reading →
How do you go about booking a holiday when your son, daughter-in-law & 2 grandchildren are going to arrive in our beautiful country all the way from Holland? Not just a normal visit, they want to visit Cairns, the Gold Coast and Port Macquarie before arriving at our house.
I set about the logistics of this mammoth task with both Wyndham’s and RCI’s support. Luckily, Wyndham had informed me that my points were expiring, but that if I transferred them to RCI they would give me an additional 2 years. Continue reading →
My wife and I joined WorldMark about 5 years ago, impressed by the presentation, but wondering whether the reality would match the dream.
For the first year or so we built up our Credits, as my wife was still working and we were virtually restricted to school holiday periods, which were then interspersed with the arrival of grandchildren.
We started, or rather our daughter started, the ball rolling by staying at the Sydney apartments, prior to an overseas trip in 2007. She spoke in glowing terms how beautiful the rooms were and how well located it was. Continue reading →
