Upon arrival, my family and friends were very well looked after by staff as coordinating and directing this big group to find my unit for dinner was the task on Friday evening.
On Saturday we went to the Nelson Head lighthouse reserve for scones jam and cream at the cafe overlooking the bay. You can see the history of the bay and the Marine Rescue Centre all free to the public except cafe. Parking there is limited. All run by volunteers and there are donation tins scattered around. Also, the Community Arts and Craft Centre is amazing just along the road back towards the resort. Several purchases from handmade cards to paintings.
On Saturday afternoon/evening the party was held in the 2 bedroom Grand which has a larger veranda than other units. Staff were very accommodating with all requests. The weather was kind with some of us swimming in the internal pool as well as the external pool.
It was my 60th birthday on May 2nd. I kinda put Greg on notice that I would like him to organise something, as usually it is me who organises not only his significant celebrations but mine also. I knew he had organised some travel plans but I did not know any details. Two weeks before my actual birthday we had a gathering at home where, as usual, I had organised the food and drinks etc. and he had done the inviting! It was a lovely night but there was still no mention of where we were going and nobody would even confirm that we were going any time soon.
The Monday after the party he told me we were off to New Zealand, but didn’t specify Wanaka, as we had been talking about going to Auckland. Anyway, I packed and we usually leave from Gold Coast airport so on the Friday we set off and he said let’s have lunch at Kirra Surf Club before checking in to Wyndham there for the night. We had just got our lunch when in walked three of our dearest friends, Stephen and Leslie-Anne and Kay, who we have known since our school days, shortly followed by my younger sister Mandy who lives at Airlie Beach. My other sister had been at the party at home but obviously Mandy had not. So the surprises kept on coming and I was told we were going to Wanaka, which is one of my favourite destinations.
We left Sydney at temperatures of 18 degrees and arrived in Fiji at a warm temperature of 26 degrees. The weather was perfect! Sunny but not too hot. It was our first time in Fiji and we were surprised at how warm and friendly the people are especially the staff of Wyndham. I loved going to the reception to have a chat with them.
As I approach my 12th Wyndham anniversary I look back on all of the memories I can thank Wyndham for.
In February 2004, I bought my first 6,000 Credits when my eldest children were just one and three years of age. Since then, my husband and I have become Privileges Platinum members and our family has grown to four children, ranging in ages from 15 to one year of age.
Being a member of Wyndham has not only benefited us, but, as a homestay family, it has also been a great way for our international students to experience Australia. One of our Japanese students even came with us to Fiji!
Over the six years we have added to the family, and extended the holiday as we simply don’t want to go home again! We now consider ourselves seasoned professional frog racers, bula bingo players, kayakers and water aerobics athletes which make up an important part of our holiday schedule!
Patty & Stephen having a birthday toast with the gift of flowers and wine
One of our sons, Stephen, lives in Sydney. As a result, we visit 2 – 3 times a year and always stay at Wyndham Sydney.
Recently, around Patty’s birthday date, we made our latest trip. When we arrived in our room there was a beautiful arrangement of flowers, plus a bottle of wine. There was a note with the flowers wishing Patty a happy birthday from Stephen. Continue reading →
What better way to celebrate a big birthday then to take your husband to Sydney for the week! Paul turned the big 50, and the stay in Sydney was made so much better by the friendly and supportive staff at Wyndham Sydney. They made our stay absolutely fabulous.
We had not been to Sydney for fifteen years, so the central location of Wyndham, the closeness to bus and train transport (Central Station just down the road), the very comfortable stylish rooms and the beautiful weather, made for an unbelievable experience. Continue reading →
