By the pool at WorldMark Resort Cairns (Trinity Links)

A lovely holiday shared with friends from NZ and the Gold Coast.

The accommodation was amazing, the weather balmy warm, the markets fantastic, so much beautiful fresh fruit and produce.

We had a great time, shared a 3-Bedroom unit at Trinity Links, Cairns, the swimming pool was right outside our front door. Continue reading

We Love Whiterock!

We decided to go to Cairns to see my relatives and have a well deserved holiday. I had booked online and was looking forward to our tropical getaway.

We arrived late and got our key from the key-safe. Upon reaching the room, we realised that the room was two stories up and no elevators at the resort.

This wouldnt have been a big thing for most visitors I’m sure, however, my partner has suffered a spinal injury and climbing stairs is a killer. We decide to make do, but after 2 days we realised we couldnt do it any longer.

We met a nice man named Midori, he was a handyman/groundskeeper at the resort. He took us to Reception and they looked for a ground level apartment for us. But the only one was being renovated.

Regardless, they said they would fasttrack the renovations and we could move in in a couple of days. That next morning, much to our surprise, we were told we could move in that afternoon.

Wow! We were really impressed. Continue reading

A North, South, East & West Cairns itinerary

Curtain Fig Tree - CairnsLast month we, Ralph and Lillian, enjoyed a fabulous holiday staying at WorldMark South Pacific Club by Wyndham Trinity Links Resort, Cairns from Sunday, 20 until Friday 25 May, 2012.

We live at Sydney and were accompanied by two very good long-time friends, Len and Narelle, who now live at the Gold Coast. We occupied a delightfully furnished three bedroom apartment at the Resort overlooking the beautifully landscaped pool.

Fifty years ago we lived at Townsville for four years and during that time we visited Cairns and its wonderful region a few times. After WorldMark South Pacific Club by Wyndham Cairns was announced, we decided we must go back to Cairns again. We planned our itinerary and accordingly booked our five night stay. Continue reading

A mammoth task

How do you go about booking a holiday when your son, daughter-in-law & 2 grandchildren are going to arrive in our beautiful country all the way from Holland? Not just a normal visit, they want to visit Cairns, the Gold Coast and Port Macquarie before arriving at our house.

I set about the logistics of this mammoth task with both Wyndham’s and RCI’s support. Luckily, Wyndham had informed me that my points were expiring, but that if I transferred them to RCI they would give me an additional 2 years. Continue reading

Cairns – We will be back!

We are a family of 4 which includes 2 teenage boys.  We were looking for somewhere to go where we hadn’t been before and decided on Cairns after looking through the WorldMark Resort Guide.

We booked a 7-night stay and arrived on a Sunday afternoon.  After picking up our car at the airport we drove out to the Resort.  Wow!  What a beautiful place.  We arrived at Reception and checked in and were given lots of brochures and helpful advice and suggestions from the front desk.

We went up to our apartment which was on the top floor and overlooked the fantastic lagoon-style pool surrounded by tropical plants and palms, with a great spa at one end.  The boys loved the spa!  The rest of the day was spent just checking things out around the Resort and getting our bearings. A unique lifestyle change

When we married straight out of university in 1999 we couldn’t afford anything more extravagant than one night in a hotel; a honeymoon was out of the question.  We became WorldMark owners in 2002, while waiting for our first home to be built. We started with 6000 Credits and our first trips were local destinations – Port Stephens and Pokolbin.  Our first fly-to resort was Cairns, which became our honeymoon in 2003.  Cairns was spectacular and we clocked up many kilometres exploring Cairns, Port Douglas and the Daintree area.  Since then we have used our membership to book rooms for the whole family at Port Stephens so they could have a golf weekend. We have celebrated birthdays at various resorts, and have learnt the advantage of booking ahead. It not only gives you something to look forward to, but also allows you to make occasions a real celebration. Continue reading

The ultimate life saving tool – HOLIDAYS!

I could have kicked myself when I was “talked into” buying Worldmark credits! I spent few nights sleepless, agonizing over the “huge” amount of money that I had just spent. I did not know at that stage that this purchase would help me over one of the most difficult periods in my life.

Things changed very quickly. I was a single Mum, then I was in a relationship and we suffered a very serious financial crash. Depression followed and we sold everything that we owned, except – my WorldMark Credits. Continue reading

Growing with WorldMark

Admittedly when we joined Worldmark, 8 years ago, as newlyweds @ 29; we felt a little young among the grey nomads, but it’s been great to see more young people making holidays part of their plan instead of just a dream. We knew we’d get value from our membership, we just never realised how much.

After several holidays in studio and one bedroom apartments, including Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Cairns, Ballarat, Fiji, NZ, and even a wonderful month in Europe via exchange in 2004. We planned to take our newest family additions (two boys ages 3 & 5) on an extended adventure to Canada in 2010. We were fortunate to take long-service leave, and with our current, & next year’s credits we booked two-bedroom apartments: 4 weeks in Vancouver, 2 weeks in Whistler, 2 weeks in Victoria, and a week in Canmore, Alberta.
