Our 21st Wedding Anniversary Trip to Rotorua, NZ

Rotorua railcruising | WorldMark South Pacific Club by Wyndham

Rotorua’s newest attraction – railcruising!

Time is one of those funny things that creep up on you. Before you know it, the first of your children have moved away from home and your youngest is about to begin their final year of high school. So to celebrate our 21st wedding anniversary, my wife and I after 9 years of WorldMark Ownership took the family on our first trip overseas, spending 12 nights in amazing Rotorua, New Zealand. Holidays have changed a lot from the days where a bucket and spade would keep our two children occupied for an entire day at the beach. Thankfully the friendly staff at WorldMark Resort Rotorua lined us up with activities that would entertain our two teenagers while still giving Mum and Dad some time to relax and unwind. St Paul’s rock pools

Recently my partner (Jan) and I experienced a traveller’s nightmare: the 11th hour cancellation of one pivotal sector of a lengthy and complicated overseas trip! Did the world end? Did we have to cancel everything?  No, thanks to Travel Club by Wyndham and in particular our (long suffering) but supremely professional consultant, Brian. Continue reading

Weekend Getaways at Rotorua NZ for Any Type of Traveller!

Bunjee jumping | WorldMark South Pacific Club by Wyndham

Tandem bungee jumping in Taupo!

I have recently experienced two very different weekends at WorldMark Resort Rotorua (North Island, New Zealand).  The first was an adrenalin filled two days with my niece who was visiting from Wales and the second was a relaxing weekend catching up with a friend from Auckland.  Accommodation at the WorldMark Resort in Rotorua made both weekends extra special – the apartments were warm, well maintained and spacious and the staff friendly and helpful.  They even had the travel blanket I had left behind on the earlier visit ready for me to pick up! Rotorua Wonderland

After not having a break from Christchurch and earthquakes we decided to escape to Rotorua.

All three of us jumped on a plane and flew to Wellington. We had a leisurely drive to Rotorua with a night’s stopover in the wonderful wee town of Napier.

When we arrived at Marama Resort, just out of Rotorua, we were greeted by the friendly receptionist. She gave us a list of things to do along with prices.  Continue reading

A welcome retreat from the rat race

A girl’s weekend away seemed just the right sort of holiday during a wet dismal winter in 2009. The three of us all lived in differing parts of New Zealand so choosing Rotorua wasn’t a difficult choice. Hot pools in winter time always seem so enticing and Rotorua has more than its fair share.

We left early on the Friday morning stopping in Matamata to collect our friend & then headed for Rotorua only one hour away. WorldMark Rotorua is situated on Lake Rotorua at Hamurana, and is an idyllic spot. Only 15 minutes from Rotorua itself, it is the perfect spot to unwind and relax.

On arrival we found to our delight that our chalet was situated right on the canal, so feeding the swans was definitely the thing to do. Outside our chalet the Ohau Channel flows into Lake Rotorua. This area is famous for its trout fishing, there is even a fishing club where folk gather to clean their fish & weigh their catches. Continue reading

Beautiful Lake Rotorua

This photo was taken in August 2011 at WorldMark Resort Rotorua in New Zealand, which is nestled on the edge of beautiful Lake Rotorua. I was staying there for a few days with my brother and his family while we celebrated my niece’s 2nd birthday.

My husband and I have been WorldMark Owners since joining up at WorldMark Kirra Beach Qld in April 2004. Unbeknown to us, my brother, who lives in Auckland New Zealand, was joining up at the same time in a different country! Continue reading

Another memory for us to treasure

We combined a number of options to gain the most from our Credits at the beginning of 2011.

Using our own resources we travelled from Whakatane (in the Bay of Plenty) to Prince’s Wharf in Auckland.

Part 1 – We boarded the Pacific Pearl for a 4-night cruise from Auckland to Sydney.  The trip into Sydney and the view of the Opera House from the ship was breathtaking.  This alone would have been enough for me, but more was to come. Continue reading

Practicing our poi skills

I just had to write and share with everyone what a fantastic holiday we had in New Zealand! We’ve been Wyndham members for nearly 9 years and have been to quite a number of Wyndham resorts, but Rotorua will stand out as one of our favourite places.

We have adult children, but they never say “No, thanks” to the annual family holiday at a Wyndham resort.

The staff at Rotorua were extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble in suggesting places to go and things to do – and they’d make the arrangements for us also! Continue reading

Words cannot describe

As I live in Canberra Australia and my two older sisters live in Auckland New Zealand and my brother currently in Turangai, I decided to surprise them and have us all stay at the beautiful WorldMark resort at Rotorua NZ.

I have been an Owner since 2008 and have stayed at a number of resorts in Australia and Paihia North Island NZ but the Rotorua Resort is one of my favourite ones. Continue reading
