Surprise Surprise at Kirra Beach!

How could you possibly have a special family holiday with all seven of your grand kids, celebrate the Melbourne Cup, attend opening night of Chicago at the Bangalow Theatre and have your three children throw a surprise 50th wedding anniversary party? All in a week! Yes, Wyndham Kirra Beach is the ideal venue.

It started with the concept of having a week on the Gold Coast with our children, who live in Sydney, Newcastle and Brisbane. They have seven children between them – our seven grandkids. We live in Sussex Inlet, three hours south of Sydney.

We booked three units at the lovely Wyndham Kirra Beach where the friendly Wyndham staff helped make our time super enjoyable. The seven small children, aged between three and eleven just love the resort pool.

Then to add cream to the cake, throw in theme parks, our own Melbourne Cup party and the chance to attend the opening night of Chicago where our singing and dancing daughter-in-law was starring.

Unbeknown to us our children had put out an invite (to anyone) via Facebook to attend a surprise 50th wedding anniversary! The date they selected was about two months ahead of the actual special anniversary, hence we didn’t have any idea of the party. People came from Sydney, Berry, Batemans Bay, Gold Coast and also included Fay’s sister from Cairns and my brother from Canada that we simply thought wanted to just join the family gang on a holiday. On our way between Sydney and the Gold Coast some of our family were able to stay at Coffs Harbour and Port Macquarie Wyndham resorts.

We’d stayed at all of those resorts, and guess what? We’ll return to them all too! Thanks family and thanks to WorldMark South Pacific Club by Wyndham.

Perfect Golden Beach Holiday

We were staying a fortnight at the Ramada Resort Golden Beach in August 2017. We loved it every day, nice view from our balcony in the ninth level. Sunrise over the sea and sunset over the Glass House mountains. Every day sunshine specialty coming from Melbourne with its cold winter days. Owners BBQ, good place to speak to other owners and having a sausage and a beer.

Our Great Trip to Port Douglas

We had a great holiday this year at Ramada Resort Port Douglas. We had a fabulous 7 days! My stories start that we are Grey Nomads and on the road a far bit when we can. Early this year we took a trip to North Queensland and the tablelands and western Queensland. We left Brisbane on the 15th May and head north up Bruce Highway. We arrived in Gladstone on the 16th where we had to stay for 4 days as there was a big rain depression came down the coast, so that left us 6 days to get to Port Douglas to arrive on 24th May, as we were to couples towing caravans this was a tight schedule. It was a great trip up and arrived in Port Douglas in the morning of the due date we had arranged to store our caravans at a storage centre at a reasonable cost.

We then book into the Ramada mid-afternoon. We were very happy with the units but parking was at a premium first in best dress.

We had trips to Cairns, Kuranda by train and car, Daintree Cape Tribulation, Mossman Gorge, a day around Port Douglas shopping and site seeing. All in all this was a great way to incorporate our resorts and our touring holiday.

The Ramada Resort Port Douglas’ hospitality was great and the staffs are friendly and very accommodating. We will have no hesitation in staying there again and would recommend this resort to any one, not the big 5 star flashy resorts as there are a lot of units in the resort.

After our week in Port Douglas we continued our holiday and next stop was the tablelands and then south to Charters Towers and west to Mount Isa and then back to the coast and home. A great trip was had by all.

Next year we will incorporate another resort on the road. Thank you WorldMark South Pacific Club by Wyndham!

Reminiscing Golden Beach

I have stayed at Ramada Resort Golden Beach twice and I love that place with a passion. I intend to go back again in 2018.

I often think about it and look at photos so I can imagine being there. There is so much to do in the area as well.

There is nothing like being out on the balcony having breakfast, and having the sun rippling off the Pumicestone passage waters, or doing the same in the later part of the afternoon with a glass of wine plus cheese and crackers.

Off to Torquay we go!

The first six months of this year have been full of stress and drama, and the Queen’s Birthday weekend offered an opportunity to escape from our everyday lives for a while, live a little adventure and enjoy a whole heaping of relaxation!

Off to Wyndham Resort Torquay we go!

Leaving home on the east of Melbourne, we decided to forgo sitting in the holiday traffic all the way through town and headed down the Mornington Peninsula to Sorrento to board the ferry across to Queenscliff. While the adults sat back and relaxed on the deck enjoying a cup of coffee and cake, Masters 4 & 8 entertained themselves with the on-board binoculars, hunting for Pirate Ships and shark fins. While the wind was fresh, the sun was shining and it was a brilliant start to our getaway.

The new online check-in system meant that everything was waiting for us upon arrival – just collect the map and the keys and up to our new home for the next couple of days.  We had a lovely 2 bedroom apartment on the ground floor, plenty of room for the five of us.  We spent the remainder of Saturday relaxing in the resort, exploring the playground and facilities before fish and chips from the local takeaway restaurant. Sunday dawned crisp and bright, just screaming for a pre-breakfast stroll along the beach.  Perfectly situated directly in front of the hotel is Torquay Beach, and within minutes of leaving the apartment we were sharing the beach with hundreds of people who had the same idea, most of them with a puppy or two tagging along.

We spent the rest of the day exploring what the Surf Coast had to offer – filling our bellies (and a few shopping bags) at the Chocolaterie and Ice creamery, up and down many steps to watch the waves crash on the shore of Bells Beach, more steps at the Aireys Inlet Lighthouse and finally a tired return to our apartment for an easy dinner and a few games of cards. We spent the evening with a few families like us who braved the cold Melbourne night for a dip in the pool.  We weren’t brave enough to tackle the outside pool while it was only 5degrees out, but the kids and I had a ball with the others in the inside pool.

Monday was departure day but the 12 pm checkout meant that we could take our time and relax – so after a relaxed breakfast, packing our things into the car and some shopping and amazing bargains at the outlets, a tired but relaxed crew headed back home.

Having been timeshare owners since 2000, we have enjoyed many years of the magnificent WorldMark family life, in all manner of luxury from the east to the west of Australia and Tasmania, as well as New Zealand

Following a week in Fiji in May we were home a week and then onto Sydney for another four nights.

Although we live in Sydney, we are about 60 kilometres from the CBD so have found Wyndham Sydney Suites to be perfect for either a weekend stop to take in a show, or simply enjoy some shopping, or head off to the beach to relax. The team in Sydney are just like family and always make you feel right at home.

Broome: “Idyllic and relaxing”

As it is nearly ten months now since David and I spent a week at Ramada Eco Beach Resort, Broome, we have had time to reflect on our stay.

We were invited to a Godson’s wedding which was to take place in July on a crocodile farm two-and-a-half hours west of Katherine, NT.  This invitation was the catalyst for a two-month trip, starting in the north east of Victoria, making our way to Lawn Hill National Park in Queensland via many interesting places along the way.  We began our camping when we reached Adel’s Grove in this National Park and spent most nights in our tent from there until we reached Eco Beach.

By this stage we were looking forward to a few comforts that camping doesn’t offer!  Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed and given iced tea and a cool cloth prior to our check in.  We then found our way to our Garden Villa which was home for a week.  Our villa was very well appointed, comfortable and secluded.  There happens to be an excellent restaurant on site, the temptation of which was too much to refuse.

Seven Mile Beach: “Touring the Apple Isle”

After an afternoon spent wandering the quaint old village of Richmond with its convict past and now home to delightful shops, and fortified with a delicious hot chocolate, we arrived at the resort for a three-night stay. Our plan was to explore some of the sights of southern Tasmania. We received a warm welcome and settled in to our comfortable, cosy room. The setting amid the native bushland is lovely and we saw birds and wallabies around. Congratulations to the company for preserving this precious area.

Golden Beach: The place to visit all year round.

During our membership of 13 years, we have now visited Ramada Resort Golden Beach 10 times, for a week at a time. Beautiful, clean and with a great location on the water, what makes this resort even better for us is that it is only an hour’s drive from our home in Brisbane.

Caloundra, which is the nearest city, has so much to offer. Great shopping, good restaurants and entertainment – we never fail to find something new every time we come here.

This photo has been taken many times by visitors to Golden Beach and will be taken many more times by future visitors.
