With my partner Rosemary, I have been a Wyndham Owner since 2006. In ten years of accumulative membership we have experienced some fantastic vacations and short stays in beautiful places within Australia and overseas. We have enjoyed time in Vancouver, Whistler, Fiji, Bali, Wanaka (at least 10 times in both summer and winter) and thanks to our RCI association, holidays in France, Greece and Tahiti. Did I mention the cruises?
In 2017 we will enjoy another New Zealand stay in Wanaka followed by Hawaii, California, Missouri, Florida and New York. While that will be exciting, it is the winter break in North Queensland, Port Douglas and we particularly love when the warm jackets can be left at home in the cupboard.
We have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our membership and now as 100 Club Members and using the Wyndham Rewards Program, we know we will never be lost for holiday opportunities in our retirement.
Recently we treated friends from Wales and New Zealand to a 3 night stay at one of our favourite Aussie resorts, Wyndham Flynns Beach in Port Macquarie. With beautiful spring weather thrown in, our guests fell in love with everything they saw and experienced in our short stay.
Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed back by Clay and the staff on reception as well as Rachel, who with a bottle of welcoming wine in hand, made some touring suggestions which were all winners!
I had booked studio apartments for our guests to give everyone their private space, aware the apartments were big enough for whole group activities when we wanted them. One of the studios I requested was the special needs studio as one of our guests has MS and the modified studio was perfect for her. It was big and well appointed with fixtures to assist her. It made her stay so much more enjoyable, particularly as it was on the ground floor nearby to the elevator and access to the car park and recreational room.
In Port Macquarie there is so much to see and experience if you want to. For us, the days began with an early morning swim at Flynns Beach followed by a coffee and “a sit” at the Kiosk while watching the next generation of volunteer life savers run through their training routines. By then it was lunch time so a walk to the Sea Acres Rainforest area got us in the mood for tasty fresh treats in a truly unique setting. Later in the afternoon we visited the Koala Hospital for the tour and education program the fabulous facility offers. Our overseas guests were truly moved by the work being done there and loved seeing the koalas up close.
During the short stay, the delightful Suzi Berry organised a “Sip and Paint’ activity for Owners and guests which for half of our party, was a great opportunity for some creative competition. The results were 3 very different perspectives of the same peacock model, but then art is always in the eye of the artist!
The finished works were admired and discussed and compared endlessly during the rest of our stay and are now hanging with pride of place in Wales and the North Island as well as Newcastle. Thank you Suzi. The art class was great fun and dove-tailed nicely with the Owners meet and greet as well.
The next day involved a full tour of the city and the surrounds leaving us time to pick some strawberries at Ricardos before coming back for a spa and swim at the resort pool.
Whenever we stay at one of our resorts we are made to feel very special. The sales staff especially, with the latest news and suggestions about using our credits to our advantage and then a gift to follow up. The more we learn about Wyndham Rewards the more excited we are about future holidays and trips overseas.
So thank you to everyone at Flynns. Our short stay was too short but thoroughly enjoyable. We will be back in November because we can’t stay away and because we can!
