Port Macquarie: “We Will Definitely Go Back”

In late March 2016, we found ourselves at Wyndham Flynns Beach, Port Macqaurie (NSW) for a few days on a GrabIt deal.

Walking along the iconic Town Beach at Port Macquarie.

I had not been to Port Macquarie since I was a young teen with my family for Christmas visiting my Grandparents who lived on Pacific Drive. Their house had been our whole family’s Summer destination for as long as I could remember. We would all gather for the holidays, romp around the long front yard and go along to the park to play cricket, walk to all the local beaches and swim or body surf and build sandcastles ’til the sun went down or we were to famished to stay. Melting iceblocks, zinc cream and freshly cooked fish from Granddad’s catch were the fondest memories I have.

The weather this time was cooler than my December memories, but we still relived fish and chips, the sand between my toes and the special places of my childhood. On our trip, we sought to reconnect with all those special places and find new ones, even catch up with old family friends. It was too short by far and we will definitely go back.
