Let me explain.
We have just returned from a six week holiday in the USA and Canada. We started in Anaheim (WorldMark Anaheim). Our itinerary included Disneyland, Los Angeles, Hollywood, Santa Monica, back to Disneyland for the next couple of days, Universal studios, a Dodgers Baseball game, back to Disneyland again and down to San Diego to Sea World.
We then drove across the Mojave Desert to Las Vegas (WorldMark Las Vegas Boulevard). Bright lights and shows, even Cirque du Soleil. During our stay we took a drive out to the Grand Canyon West Rim for some horse riding, a helicopter to the floor of the canyon, a boat along the Colorado River and an evening in the desert, with jackrabbits and a few howling coyotes in the distance.
From Vegas, it was off to Victoria, British Columbia (WorldMark Victoria). Orca whale watching, Butchart Gardens and even High Tea at the Empress Hotel.
Then we were on-board the Sapphire Princess, cruising the inside passage to Glacier Bay. Along the way, we walked on the glacier at Juneau, saw grizzly bears fishing for salmon at Haines, humpback whales along the way and porpoises to escort our ship into Vancouver.
Back in Vancouver (WorldMark Vancouver – The Canadian) we spent time in Stanley Park, Granville Island and took a gondola trip up Grouse Mountain which even gave us some early season snow showers at the end of the day.
Then it was on to Whistler (WorldMark Whistler Sundance) for a couple of days. From the sunny village, we travelled by Jeep tour up Blackcomb Mountain. We saw black bears feeding on the lower slopes, while on the higher slopes we drove through the covering of the season’s early snow.
From Vancouver we flew to New York. I know we must be blessed, but we had 7 nights at the Manhattan Club (RCI exchange). Located in walking distance between Central Park, Times Square and 5th Avenue, the week was packed with Broadway shows, sights, tours, shopping and even a night in the audience at the Letterman Show.
The final location of our holiday was Washington DC (Wyndham National Harbor). We toured the capital and spent time visiting the historic towns in Maryland and Virginia.
Our friends and family couldn’t believe the beautiful accommodation at each location. ‘Wow, you are having the trip of a life time!’ While the activities were exciting, it was great to relax in our WorldMark ‘home away from home’ apartments.
How easy was it? We have been WorldMark owners since 2007 and over the years we have gradually increased our Ownership to Privileges Diamond level this year. We booked all our North American accommodation on-line through the WorldMarkSP website. Following this, Dan from Wyndham’s Travel Club organised all of the flights, the cruise and travel insurance, even using some Credits for payment (Personal Choice).
WorldMark National Harbor is not currently available to South Pacific Owners, so this was the only accommodation we had to book externally. We decided to book a Wyndham property as we expected that it would be to the same high standard. We were not disappointed. A bit of internet research about activities and tours gave us all the information we needed to work out what to book in advance and what could be left to work out when we got there and provided us with flexibility.
The best part of the holiday? WorldMark apartments. Not being stuck in a hotel room.
And so, was it the trip of a life time? Perhaps, but as a WorldMark Owner the future is full of holidays. This was just the one we took in 2013. 2014 is booked for skiing in New Zealand (Wyndham Wanaka) and we are already thinking about 2015.
Mark & Narelle,
WorldMark Owners since 2007
