“We Were Never Bored”: A Special Family Holiday in Port Douglas

Tree Bar & Grill, Ramada Port Douglas

At Ramada Port Douglas’ Tree Bar & Grill restaurant

Very early on a dull Auckland morning, we boarded our plane and headed off to the sunny climes of Cairns & Port Douglas. What a welcome relief it was to be welcomed by temperatures in the late twenties!!  We got our car and headed off to the fantastic resort at the Ramada in Port Douglas, where we were made very welcome. We played in the pool, chatted with the resident cockatoo and explored the wonderful facilities and local beach, only minutes from the resort.

With so much to do in the local area we were never bored. We enjoyed dining in the numerous local restaurants, visited the Mossman Gorge, the Skyrail and Daintree Forest to name a few. Hartley’s Crocodile Farm was fantastic, particularly as we got a 3 day pass and the kids learned so much about crocodiles, koalas, spiders and many other native tropical animals.

As with all our family holidays we go out one night for a special family dinner and we all dress up in our best clothes. The kids decided that they we so impressed with the Tree Bar & Grill restaurant at the resort, that we chose it for our special meal. The staff were amazing – generous and thoughtful to the kids, and a delicious meal to boot.

We all are have very happy memories from our wonderful holiday and are counting down the days until we  get a chance to visit there again.

Thank you to the WorldMark Team.

  1. Having just returned home I can not speak highly enough of my experience at Ramada Port Douglas-the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful at reception. The Tree Grill and Bar-wonderful food and drinks-great staff-all bordering on the gorgeous pool with waterfall.Kuranda Skyrail was amazing as was the butterfly sanctuary then the trip back down on the train. The lagoon in Cairns was so warm and inviting surrounded at one end with the finest white sand. The reef sprinter out to the low isles definitely worth the trip-jetting out there at 80 kph holding onto our hats on a glorious day-the reef life so colourful and swimming with a turtle made my day.All the more special to take my brother in law and sister in law away for the holiday. On my last day went on a Tony’s Tropical Adventure tour through to Mossman and out to Cape Tribulation via a boat tour crocodile/snake/bird spotting and a lovely barbeque lunch followed by a swim in the river-all hosted by Adrian-as hilarious as he was knowledgeable I highlight of my trip-thanks again WorldMark team-would definetly go back
