We had 2000 Credits that were due to expire end of December, and we were not ready to book our next holiday.
I was looking through the local paper and saw an advertisement for the Hunter Valley Gardens Christmas lights. With 2 young children (aged 7 and 4) that love Christmas lights I thought it would be a good place to take them. I suddenly remembered that WorldMark have a resort in the Hunter Valley, so I got onto the WorldMark South Pacific Club website to find out how many Credits were needed for one night and if there was any availability during the school holidays. All the weekends were booked, but I managed to find a free night mid-week.
It was a 2 bedroom apartment that can sleep 6 people, so I thought it would be a good opportunity to ask my parents along as well. Due to health issues they cannot really travel far, but being only a 2 hour drive from Sydney they could easily travel up in their own car at the same time as us.
We drove up in the morning, stopping along the way for lunch. We arrived at the resort early in the afternoon, and I took the kids to the swimming pool. We had dinner at the Restaurant/Cafe on site. Then after dinner we went to see the Christmas lights. The Hunter Valley Gardens are very close to the WorldMark Pokolbin Hill Resort. You could walk it, but with young children and elderly parents, we thought it best to drive and park. Everyone thought the lights were fantastic. My mother said she wants to return to see the gardens by daylight.
The next morning we had breakfast at the cafe on site, sitting out on the verandah with a great views over the valley. So even though we only went for one night it was like a mini holiday.
