My wife and I recently celebrated our 22nd wedding anniversary at Golden Beach Resort. From the minute we stepped into the foyer, we felt like we were coming home as this was one of the first resorts we stayed at upon joining, what was then, Trendwest. We were delighted with the refurbished foyer, the Titanic staircase-style chandelier, red guest lounges, and very modern fountain. The ever-friendly staff treated us to a bottle of wine for our anniversary, which was a lovely touch.
We have stayed here many times with our kids since joining back in 2000, enjoying the kayaks, tennis courts, restaurant, pool and spa. This time, we left the kids at home, enjoying romantic strolls along the foreshore, our wine and cheese platter on our eighth floor balcony, all the while soaking up the wonderful atmosphere that is the Pumicestone Passage. As the sunset, the spectacular views across to Bribie Island faded, only to awaken the night-lights of Caloundra.
After enjoying an early evening spa, this left us refreshed and ready for a sumptuous dinner at the Sakon Thai Restaurant. The restaurant staff were friendly, the food – terrific, and the service was prompt with dinner billed to our room. A quiet stroll, to walk dinner down, led us to watching one of the hire DVD’s from reception and a good night in
Our final day, Sunday, started with a dip in the spa and pool then off to Caloundra to enjoy the main-street markets offering everything from food, fashion, art & crafts, massages and home wares. As a rainbow was a sign of things to come, we headed back to the resort, checked out of paradise and back to reality. Wish it didn’t have to end so soon. Thanks for the memories…
