Wild West, USA

Grand Teton National Park

Two friends and myself had a marvelous holiday last year – driving across the Wild West of the USA.

It was the first time I had hired and driven a car in the US and it wasn’t as scary as I had first thought! Out of 35 nights away, 26 of them were staying at WorldMark properties; San Francisco, Galena, West Yellowstone, Bear Lake, Midway, St. George, Las Vegas and Anaheim. The accommodations were great – really luxurious – everyone should try the spa tub beside the open fireplace in the ensuite bathroom at the Galena, IL resort!

We travelled over 6000km in the three weeks that we had the car and saw some beautiful scenery. Small town USA is a must to see – much more interesting that the major cities.

This year we are visiting the Northeast (New England) region of the US in the fall. The colours should be glorious. Because there are no WorldMark properties in this region, I have booked 22 nights through RCI. All are short stay reservations – 1 to 4 nights – in Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, West Virginia and Virginia. Only $25 per night plus Credits – what a bargain! Can’t wait until September!
