How do you go about booking a holiday when your son, daughter-in-law & 2 grandchildren are going to arrive in our beautiful country all the way from Holland? Not just a normal visit, they want to visit Cairns, the Gold Coast and Port Macquarie before arriving at our house.
I set about the logistics of this mammoth task with both Wyndham’s and RCI’s support. Luckily, Wyndham had informed me that my points were expiring, but that if I transferred them to RCI they would give me an additional 2 years.
First problem, no accommodation in Cairns, but thanks to the fantastic efforts of all parties they found me a week in Cairns.
The holiday there was absolutely fantastic. The accommodation and facilities were fantastic, with a temperature around 26 degrees [July]. Everyone was very relaxed. The week went extremely quickly, and then it was time to move on down to the Gold Coast .
Needless to say, the children were looking forward to Movie World & Sea World . We were exhausted but the kids continued on.The facilities were out of this world we would not have had to leave the accommodation, as everything was there that we needed [as well as a fantastic little bread shop over the road].
A slight little bump in our plan left us travelling down to Coffs Harbour overnight with visits to the Big Banana & The Clog Barn for breakfast [well they are Dutch]. On down the road again and into our 3rd lot of accommodation. We only had 3 days in Port Macquarie as I had to get back to work but it was definitely a relaxing time [there was enough room to sleep 10!] .
The highlight for me, apart from my grandchildren, was Lynne’s and my visit to the Outback show on the Gold Coast [“The history of the Light Horse”]. Besides having a supremely well presented and succulent 3 course meal, the history and nostalgia of the show left such an impression on us that we are going to return next year using my Wyndham points and accommodation.
I could not ask for better assistance from people in customer care who really do put themselves out to ensure we enjoy ourselves.
