Discovery Bay reunion

What a great place to have a reunion!  My husband and I live in Fiji, and my best friend from primary school days in New Zealand  –  almost 60 years ago – lives at Gig Harbour WA.  Our daughter and partner live in Whistler BC Canada  – a half days drive from the Wyndham resort at Discovery Bay.  This was the  perfect location for us all to get together and holiday.

We had often stayed with both of them at their homes, but decided this year to invite them to “our place” on the Olympic Peninsula and booked 6 months ago.

The resort is stunning.  Sitting right on the Puget Sound with every comfort.  We used it as a base to explore the peninsular, visiting a lavender farm, wine tasting, travelling to the snow line on the Ridge plateau and tramping to the Marymere Falls in the Olympic Forest.  Another attraction was the wonderful shopping and sightseeing  at picturesque Port Townsend where we wandered amongst the beautifully restored Victorian homes on Saturday morning going to garage sales and produce markets.

There was so much to see and do in the area and the staff at the reception were excellent with mountains of information and suggestions.  Other guests were in and out in the late afternoon with tips on where they had been and enjoyed during their day.

Discovery Bay is fairly isolated so we self catered every evening for dinner – but that was easy with a barbeque right on our own deck and wonderful Copper River Salmon on the menu….the added bonus was the view which was spectacular.

The Wyndham logo “Friends first” certainly worked for us and we had a wonderfully relaxed, affordable get together in style and comfort.
