It was time to book a holiday, but this time it had been 17yrs since my husband and I had taken a holiday together alone. Well Vietnam didn’t disappoint, from the excitement of traffic chaos, the picture perfect historic buildings to the polite and friendly Vietnamese people.
The hotel staff were friendly and attentive, there was nothing they wouldn’t do to make sure our holiday was the best it could be. Even the locals were happy to sit and chat away sharing their family life and making us feel welcome.
By day when we weren’t relaxing under a thatched pagoda, looking out to sea, watching the fishing boats go by, there was swimming in the 150mtr pool or having a dip in the sea or excursions to go on. One of the most popular and memorable ones was ‘Me Son’, the temple ruins which are a UNESCO site. We had a guide who used humour to get everyone to participate.
The hotel operated a complimentary shuttle bus to the historic town of Hoi An every 2 hours which was very popular. In the town we were able to view numerous temples spread among the numerous tailors and custom shoe makers. If you were looking for original oil paintings there were several artists who depicted Vietnamese life well.
When we were tired from all the shopping it was easy to stop for a foot and shoulder massage to rejuvenate the body and get ready for strolling again and making menu decisions. So much choice.
The ten days went so quickly and now that we are back home, a piece of Vietnam still holds a place in my heart. It is well worth a visit.
