American Honeymoon

My husband and I, after getting married in January, took our honeymoon to the United States over three weeks in February.  Both my husband and I are WorldMark members separately (from before we met), and so had enough Credits to book a significant portion of our holiday over there.  Our itinerary included New York, New Orleans, San Francisco, Pismo Beach, Los Angelas, Las Vegas, and Flagstaff.

Our WorldMark itinerary started in New Orleans.  The hotel was absolutely gorgeous, done in the traditional old south style, but having just been renovated was very comfortable.  As newly weds we were given a room upgrade, and as Australians we were the favourites of the desk staff, they just love our accents, while we loved the thick southern drawl.  The hotel was right outside a tram line, so great for hopping around and seeing the sites, we were only ten minutes from the Garden District in one direction, and the French Quarter and Bourbon Street in the other direction.  My husband also got to watch the Super Bowl in the hotel, so that was a highlight.

Next stop was San Francisco.  Again, the hotel was a lovely boutique hotel, a bit smaller, but still in great condition with lovely furnishings.  And again, there was a tram stop just on the next corner, and only twenty minutes from Pier 39 and Alcatraz, or only ten minutes walk to the famous shopping area, which was definitely a highlight for me!  From here we drove south along Big Sur, staying at the Pismo Beach resort for a night, then on to Los Angeles, staying at the DisneyLand resort for a few nights.  WorldMark staff were friendly and helpful at each stay, helping with sightseeing, and recommending good local cafes and restaurants.

Now we’re just trying to save more Credits to go back to the States and even Canada to visit other wonderful spots, possibly with a stop-over in Hawaii this time.
