Teenage turbulence – November winner!

In 2004, WorldMark posted a voucher to us, asking if we would like to spend four nights at WorldMark Kirra Beach, at a reasonable price. My husband Bruce and I, our youngest daughter Nikola and her friend Kiara booked into a Hinterland Unit which happened to be on the eighth floor. We knew about WorldMark prior to going there, as we have a friend who is a chartered accountant, who had researched the Club and he and his family joined in 2002.

The unit was lovely, stunning views over the Gold Coast Hinterland and close to the beach. The beds were comfortable and the girls loved having their own room, their own TV in the lounge room (we had one in our bedroom) and, being 12 years old at the time, especially loved having their own bathroom. We spent the days going to the beach, in the pool and spa, Dreamworld, shopping at Pacific Fair and walking to Coolangatta for ice creams. The staff were friendly and helpful and the kids joined in some of the organized activities, whilst we relaxed.

We asked Nikola if she would like to come back for another holiday at WorldMark Kirra Beach, she was jumping up and down with excitement – YESSS!!!

We joined and have never looked back. Since those days starting out with 6,000 Credits, we now have 35,000 Credits, have stayed at Kirra Beach 8 times, Port Stephens, Sydney 3 times, Golden Beach 3 times, Ballarat, Dunsborough, Hervey Bay and Denarau Island Fiji.

We have 6 children, all adults now, sometimes we’ve stayed at WorldMark with them and their families, sometimes we’ve booked accommodation just for them, sometimes we stay with friends, sometimes it’s just the two of us. To us, catching up with friends and extended family is important and we have wonderful memories of each time and each place. The special birthday celebration at Treetops, the live shows and Harbour cruise in Sydney, the lazy summer afternoons sitting in a shady spot enjoying a glass of wine at Pokolbin, breathing in the perfume of the roses and taking a leisurely stroll around the lake at Ballarat, watching the mist rolling in at Wentworth Falls, joining in the fun and laughter of the Fijian staff at Denarau, to name just a few.

That first stay at Kirra Beach though was extra special, when we look at the photos of Nikola and Kiara on the balcony, it was a time of innocence for them both, just prior to the turbulent teenage years, it makes us realize time doesn’t stand still, it’s precious and kids grow up fast.

The other photo is of Nikola now (seven years later) taken at Voyager estate in May this year whilst staying at Dunsborough. Somehow she made it through those teenage years and she’s in the loving arms of her boyfriend Ryan.

It’s been a wonderful ride WorldMark, one we wouldn’t change for the world, and we look forward to many more happy adventures.

  1. We have heard the expression many times over “Well, they live the life of Riley ” when refering to those lucky people who gad about the country having fun times, wonderful holidays, good fortune & great experiences. After reading Cyndy & Bruce’s story we will have to change that expression to the “life of the Turner’s !” A great story. As Cyndy pointed out life goes so fast & it it so important for us to have quality time with our loved ones, family & friends, and to give our relationships and ourselves the time out we so deserve. If we are lucky enough to receive one of those holiday invitations -we’re gone !

  2. A wonderful story Cyndy. Your holidays with World Mark sound great – how do you join ?? Cheryl xx

    • Hi Cheryl, to answer your question about becoming a WorldMark Owner, we do have a Mini Vacation program (which is what Cyndy was referring to in her story) that would allow you to spend a short break at one of our resorts and then attend a sales presentation onsite: http://www.holidaysbywyndham.com

Alternatively, feel free to contact our marketing department at: Freecall 1800 606 406 (AUS) or 0800 540 400 (NZ).

    • Thanks Cheryl. Our holidays with Worldmark are great. I note Worldmark South Pacific Club have responded to your question, it’s really worthwhile taking them up on their offer of a Mini Vacation programme and going to the onsite presentation.

It tells you all about the Club, (Worldwide) the exchange programs with International Cruise Exchange (ICE) and RCI which is an international accommodation exchange company.

The cruise Bruce and I went on circumnavigating Australia in 2009, was through ICE, also the cruise to New Zealand last December and the cruise Nikola and I went on to the Pacific Islands last year.

We’ve made good use of our club. For someone who likes to travel, it’s ideal.

      Cyndy xx
