In 2004, WorldMark posted a voucher to us, asking if we would like to spend four nights at WorldMark Kirra Beach, at a reasonable price. My husband Bruce and I, our youngest daughter Nikola and her friend Kiara booked into a Hinterland Unit which happened to be on the eighth floor. We knew about WorldMark prior to going there, as we have a friend who is a chartered accountant, who had researched the Club and he and his family joined in 2002.
The unit was lovely, stunning views over the Gold Coast Hinterland and close to the beach. The beds were comfortable and the girls loved having their own room, their own TV in the lounge room (we had one in our bedroom) and, being 12 years old at the time, especially loved having their own bathroom. We spent the days going to the beach, in the pool and spa, Dreamworld, shopping at Pacific Fair and walking to Coolangatta for ice creams. The staff were friendly and helpful and the kids joined in some of the organized activities, whilst we relaxed.
We asked Nikola if she would like to come back for another holiday at WorldMark Kirra Beach, she was jumping up and down with excitement – YESSS!!!
We joined and have never looked back. Since those days starting out with 6,000 Credits, we now have 35,000 Credits, have stayed at Kirra Beach 8 times, Port Stephens, Sydney 3 times, Golden Beach 3 times, Ballarat, Dunsborough, Hervey Bay and Denarau Island Fiji.
We have 6 children, all adults now, sometimes we’ve stayed at WorldMark with them and their families, sometimes we’ve booked accommodation just for them, sometimes we stay with friends, sometimes it’s just the two of us. To us, catching up with friends and extended family is important and we have wonderful memories of each time and each place. The special birthday celebration at Treetops, the live shows and Harbour cruise in Sydney, the lazy summer afternoons sitting in a shady spot enjoying a glass of wine at Pokolbin, breathing in the perfume of the roses and taking a leisurely stroll around the lake at Ballarat, watching the mist rolling in at Wentworth Falls, joining in the fun and laughter of the Fijian staff at Denarau, to name just a few.
That first stay at Kirra Beach though was extra special, when we look at the photos of Nikola and Kiara on the balcony, it was a time of innocence for them both, just prior to the turbulent teenage years, it makes us realize time doesn’t stand still, it’s precious and kids grow up fast.
The other photo is of Nikola now (seven years later) taken at Voyager estate in May this year whilst staying at Dunsborough. Somehow she made it through those teenage years and she’s in the loving arms of her boyfriend Ryan.
It’s been a wonderful ride WorldMark, one we wouldn’t change for the world, and we look forward to many more happy adventures.
