A week just isn’t enough…

Our recent holiday to WorldMark on Denarau Island Fiji was fantastic. Third visit this time and we will go back again. The locals are so friendly and the ladies love the afternoon serenades by the local band at our own balcony.

A week just isn’t enough…..

Going over there with our daughter’s family and just turned 1 year old first grandson was the best holiday ever. Their first time to Fiji and they loved it. Little Reuben loved the attention from the staff and the whole trip had many new experiences for him. ‘Bula’ was almost his first proper word spoken after this trip.

We visited the local markets in Nadi and bought some freshly caught Coral Trout (the best fish in the Sea), we baked them for dinner and you cannot get a better fish meal.

We also hired a car and travelled 2.5 hrs to Pacific Harbour to do the shark dives with Beqa Adventure Divers. Wow that was amazing. Definitely one of the top two best shark dives I have done. So well organised and the quantity of individual and number of shark species were truly a wonder. They feed them at 4 different well planned sites and you can see anywhere up to 40 sharks in your visibility at any one time. The huge Bull Sharks (3 – 4 mtrs) are very impressive and the way they tease them with the Tuna heads right in front of your face is a real buzz.

We did an island trip out to South Sea Island for a day and that was great, plenty to do and also plenty of time to relax. Seeing our grandson fallen asleep on top of his dad in the hammock just showed that he had a great time.

When you do all this hard holiday and leisure activities you look forward to the pool bar and sipping a few cocktails or a massage in the Beach Bures.

One other thing I had planned all week was buying some local mud crabs and cooking them up for the family. We could just not time it right. The markets didn’t have any when we visited, the ladies on the bridge either were not there or had just sold out every opportunity we made it to the bridge. So I thought I would action the local grapevine to help out. I asked the reception staff if they had a contact with the village where the ladies come from who sell the crabs… after a whisper here and a whisper there it looked like I was in luck. Thanks Merioni we had our 5 fresh mud crabs caught that evening delivered to us and I was able to cook them up on our last day. Salt n pepper mud crab, another highlight.

We were there for the last State of Origin game and also the Reds vs the Crusaders game and watched them on the big screen by the pool. What can I say but ‘go Queensland’. These 2 strong wins wrapped up a great week in Fiji.

Bula Vinaka.

Vinaka WorldMark staff for making our holiday another wonderful memory forever.
