Admittedly when we joined Worldmark, 8 years ago, as newlyweds @ 29; we felt a little young among the grey nomads, but it’s been great to see more young people making holidays part of their plan instead of just a dream. We knew we’d get value from our membership, we just never realised how much.
After several holidays in studio and one bedroom apartments, including Gold Coast, Sunshine Coast, Cairns, Ballarat, Fiji, NZ, and even a wonderful month in Europe via exchange in 2004. We planned to take our newest family additions (two boys ages 3 & 5) on an extended adventure to Canada in 2010. We were fortunate to take long-service leave, and with our current, & next year’s credits we booked two-bedroom apartments: 4 weeks in Vancouver, 2 weeks in Whistler, 2 weeks in Victoria, and a week in Canmore, Alberta.
That was 9 weeks of 5-star apartment accommodation we didn’t have to budget for, value we certainly appreciated and enjoyed. Other parts of our holiday included cruising up to Alaska, driving up the west coast of USA including LA, San Fran, Pismo Beach, Seattle, the list goes on…
As we put our professional careers on pause, we look back now and remember picnic’s in the snow, standing on glacier ice fields, and most of all sharing our boy’s excitement at every discovery. We hiked & cycled in incredible landscapes, and spent a lot of time to just sit, watch and breathe.
Travelling with kids slows down what you can achieve in a day, but it meant we soaked up every experience; often twice. We extended our stayed in Vancouver to witness the 2010 Winter Olympics.
We are now back into our daily routines; back at work, school terms have started, and dinner time conversation about ‘the next’ holiday is a popular topic.
Who says a British Columbia & Canadian Rockies holiday is once in a lifetime? We will certainly be going back; perhaps in a few years as baby #3 is due in a few weeks! Upgrading to 3 bedrooms is now on our list of holiday requirements as we have certainly grown with Worldmark.
